I went to Carmel, NY this morning to pay school taxes and as I was walking along Route 52 to the county offices I spotted George’s Place. I’d heard that the food there was good and I was a bit peckish so I decided to give it a try. It’s a fairly typical diner type of place and is only open for breakfast and lunch. Their menu can be found on their Facebook page. There’s a picture of the staff on the home page. I was served by a very pleasant young woman – in pink on the front row in the picture. It’s a very warm and welcoming place though with a very pleasant ambiance. The staff were very friendly.

So what did I have? I was feeling hungry so I had the ‘Super Breakfast – 3 Eggs, Homefries, Sausage with Coffee’ to which I added a side order of bacon. It was huge and the extra bacon was probably a step to far. I really enjoyed it, but I guess there’s only so much you can do with eggs, bacon and sausage and the breakfast here didn’t seem to be fundamentally different from any of the other diners in the vicinity I’ve been to.

The menu is, however, quite extensive so I’ll probably go back sometime and have something a bit more exotic: maybe an ‘Englishburger’ whatever that is.
