I was walking around a nearby pond watching a pair of geese. They were paddling slowly around with their heads high when suddenly they stretched out their necks, lowered their heads so they were low down to the water and parallel to it and shot off at high speed making the most incredible racket. I can only assume that this was because another group of geese had just landed at the far end of the pond. I guess they were not happy about the intrusion.
