In a recent post (see: Canon EOS 888 Results) I tried out a new camera by walking around in the neighborhood of our house taking a few pictures.

For a time we were without a car and so picture taking opportunities were limited. However, one day I noticed that the late afternoon light was particularly nice so I decided to take the dog for a walk around the neighborhood.

All of the pictures in this series were taken within a 5-10 minute walk from our house in Briarcliff Manor.

In an earlier post (see: Here’s where we live) I mentioned that our house is located on the site of a former grand estate. It was called ‘Waldheim’ and you can clearly see the name on two of the pillars (see below), which form part of this brickwork

I’ve borrowed the title ‘On my doorstep’ from the name of a portfolio produced by Paul Strand (I believe Ansel Adams may also have used it).
