We bought this old bench shortly after we bought the house, which makes it almost 20 years old.

It stands in an area that was once occupied by a number of ragged, completely overgrown juniper bushes. I cut them down and removed the roots. It was hard work, but worth it as the area looked much better after I’d finished. It even exposed a rather nice stone retaining wall that we didn’t even know was there because the junipers had completely covered it.

The bench has now seen better days, and the area is a bit overgrown again – this time with my wifes’ roses. With a little work this can be easily fixed though and in any case I much prefer overgrown roses to overgrown junipers.

Taken with a Sony RX100 M3.
