In the Woods – A Rock Face

I’ve walked past this rock face many times. I had a feeling that that there was a picture there somewhere, but whenever I tried to take one, I haven’t been able to get a result I liked. This time the light must have been different (better?) because I noticed, for the first time, the colors and made them my focus.

I’m much more pleased with this one.

In the Woods – Lichens

I’m fascinated by Lichens:

  • They’re found in nearly all habitats, from Arctic to deserts, grasslands, and tropical forests, showcasing their adaptability and resilience.
  • They’re quite colorful (not so much these) with vibrant colors, ranging from bright yellow and red to green, black, brown, silver, and gray, that add a unique visual appeal to natural landscapes.
  • Their textures are amazing, almost feather-like, but with lots of ridges and valleys.

They’re not only beautiful but also essential to the health of our planet, making them a subject of interest for both nature enthusiasts and scientists alike.

Bird overhead

This bird was circling overhead throughout my recent walk. Of course, since I was doing macro photography, I didn’t have a suitable lens to do it justice. Still, nothing ventured nothing gained… On one pass it came closer so gave it a go. Not much to write home about. I’m even unsure what kind of bird it is, although I suspect it might be vulture, maybe a black vulture. I guess there must have been something edible in the vicinity. I hope it wasn’t me. 🙂
