Even down by the Hudson River there are signs that Hallowe’en is fast approaching. Still this rotating windmill makes a pleasant change from the giant skeletons that you seem to see everywhere around here at the moment.

I’ve taken many photographs of this old, weathered door on a similarly decaying old building on Main Street in Ossining, NY. I don’t know how the house manages to survive, nor do I fully understand what fascinates me so much about the door. Although I’ve taken a lot of pictures of it, I’ve never been quite happy with them. I think I like this one the most, at least for now.

This caught my eye because it seemed more like something I would have seen when I was living in France, than something I came across while walking down Main Street in Ossining, NY. Of the course the sign in English is something of a giveaway.

This small stretch of woodland is a short walk from where I live. I liked the way the fallen tree points towards the inevitable fall foliage in the background.
