I liked the colors, the textures and the contrast between the horizontal lines and the circular bolts.

Planks on a dock
Ideograms
I came across these ideograms on a brick pillar outside a nearby Barnes & Noble. I have no idea what they mean (if anything) but I thought that the black lettering against the bright, colorful, slightly speckled brickwork was attractive.

Why don’t we have crossings like this
I live in the Lower Hudson Valley. This picture was taken a bit farther north: in Kingston, NY.
Where I am the crossings are all black and white. As you can see from the picture this one is much more colorful.

Water Trails
I was taking some pictures of the fountain in the Plaza at Lincoln Center in New York City when I noticed these water trails. The fountain itself is quite fascinating. It goes through cycles: starting with one that is quite innocuous where the level is quite low, and progressively getting higher and higher. The problem is that as it get higher the spray is more and more likely to get caught by the wind and blown onto the plaza. While this can produce interesting abstract patterns (as in the picture) it can also be quite dangerous, creating a very slippery surface in the vicinity of the fountain. If fact while we were there a child slipped and fell.

Mosaic?
I’m not really sure what you’d call this. The best thing I can come up with is “Mosaic”. Whatever it is it lies in front of a church in Briarcliff Manor, NY.
