Some kind of fungus. I’ve no idea what it is (maybe an Artist’s Bracket Fungus?), but it looks pretty gruesome. I don’t know if it’s edible, but even if it is the sight would put me off eating it completely

You’ll probably be seeing quite a lot of these over the next month.
Every year I swear that I won’t take any more pictures of the fall leaves. I’ve taken so many. They’re boring, I say to myself. But then the next Fall comes around, and I can’t resist the temptation.
So, here’s a nice grouping seen during a recent walk.

This tree is quite close to my house. I’ve been taking pictures of it for years. When I first came across it, I thought it was dead. Since then I’ve taken pictures from all angles, probably in all seasons, even in silhouette. I’ve glad to see that it’s thriving. I hope the dreaded spotted lanternflies don’t get it.
