In Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow – Keith and Linda

I love Korean food and a little over a week ago I went to Tarrytown to try out a Korean restaurant I’d never noticed before: Bibillé.

I was a little early, and I was standing outside the restaurant waiting for it to open. The couple in the picture were also standing there. They weren’t waiting for it to open as I was. They’d already eaten. Rather they were perusing the menu in the window. We struck up a conversation and I discovered that they had recently moved from California to Ossining.

We talked for some time, and I asked them if I could take the photograph above, and they agreed. Keith gave me his business card (he’s a chess coach) so that I could send him the picture, which I did. I’d enjoyed the conversation so much that in the email transmitting the picture I asked if they’d like to get together sometime for coffee or lunch or something. They agreed and I hope to see them again soon.

An Organ Recital

Last weekend I went to an organ recital at the Briarcliff Manor Congregational Church. I’ve been to some local events in the past and was not always impressed by the performances. I will not quickly forget a performance of Hande’s Messiah. The singers were whoever showed up and wanted to sing. I read that the orchestra was anyone who wanted to play. No auditions necessary.

But this was very different. The two performers clearly knew what they were doing and delivered an excellent performance. The organ is an amazing instrument, but it looks exceedingly difficult to play.

I really enjoyed it.

A Walk to Crawbuckie Preserve and Back – Preparing for Christmas

It used to be that preparations for Christmas started after Thanksgiving (which is at the time of writing tomorrow, November 28). This picture was taken November 17, eleven days before Thanksgiving. It seems to get earlier every year.

And that was about it for my photowalk. I still had to walk for another 30 minutes before I would get home, walking along rather boring side streets where I didn’t expect to take any more pictures. And it was perhaps the hardest part physically. My house is on top of a hill, so I almost always have to walk up this rather steep incline at the end of my walks – just when I’m the most tired and sore.

Still, as this series of posts suggests I made it. I also thoroughly enjoyed the walk.
