Around the Neighborhood – Pink Balloons

Briarcliff Manor has a pleasant coffee shop called Moonbean Cafe. It’s in an old house with a porch that you can sit on and sip your coffee. You can even sit in its small garden. For some reason the porch was festooned with pink balloons and artificial roses. I should have asked why but didn’t. I’ve recently heard that the building is supposed to be demolished and a new, larger building put up in its place. I’ve also heard that there it’s likely that Moonbean Cafe will continue in the new location (which is good)…but it just won’t be the same.

Around the Neighborhood – Ugly structures

These structures stand on the site of afore-mentioned “The Club“. The water tower has been there for some time and I could easily tolerate it because is has an interesting, rounded shape. But then it started to sprout antennae! And to add insult to injury an entirely new, and particularly ugly new tower has appeared. What I find especially curious about this one is the way that they try to disguise it as some kind of giant Christmas tree. Honestly, who do they think they are fooling?

Around the Neighborhood – Some black and whites

These were taken around “The Club“, a relatively recently opened “seniors community” in Briarcliff Manor. “The Club” is situated on the site of the former Briarcliff Lodge, a once popular resort hotel once frequented by a number of celebrities. Unfortunately, after being abandoned for some time it burnt down around 2003.
