We recently had a visit from our friend, Laurie. She gave us some sunflowers. My wife put them in a blue and white vase ‘et voilà’ – still life. Vincent eat your heart out.

Photographs and thoughts on photography and camera collecting
For a while now I’ve been using my Sony Nex 5N almost exclusively with adapted legacy lenses. However, I do have Sony E-mount lenses so I thought I’d give them a try again – specifically the 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens (the first one that came to hand).
Above a Day Lily. At the time I took this picture (end June) masses of day lilies were growing around our lake (see last picture – not taken with a Sony E-Mount lens.
How did I like the experience? I quite like the picture of the day lily. The picture of the roses on the fence is OK and I don’t care for the picture taken at moon beach. The background is “mushy”, but that may well have been my fault. I’ve had good results with this lens in the past. Maybe I’ve just forgotten how to use it well.
All pictures (except for the last) taken with a Sony Nex 5N and 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 lens
I’ve taken a lot of pictures of single blooms of my wife’s David Austin roses – 37 to be precise.
Here are a few taken in May of this year of multiple blooms. To me the look particularly attractive after a rain shower. Above Boscobel.
