Man on a fence

I think that what initially caught my attention was what he was wearing: the bright orange contrasting with the black.

Then I found myself wondering why he was sitting on that fence. It didn’t look very comfortable.

As I got closer, I noticed that he wasn’t wearing any shoes. I wondered why.

Finally, I noticed that he had the word love tattooed on the fingers of his left hand.

I asked him if I could take a couple of pictures, and he kindly agreed, even seemed to enjoy the experience. After I’d taken the pictures, I showed them to him and he seemed to be happy with them.

Unfortunately, in my rush to get the pictures, I neglected to ask his name. Pity.

Birdwatching II

This time the bird was watching me. This picture was taken through the window of a restaurant where I was having my lunch. It was by the Hudson and soon after I arrived, I saw, through the window, this mallard jump up onto the wooden railing. It stayed there for a long time, just peering at me.

Maybe he was the mate of the mallard in the previous picture, and it didn’t like me taking pictures of his offspring. 😊

Birdwatching I

I love the little, fuzzy looking Mallard ducklings. The mother let them swim around by themselves, but from time to time she’d look back at them and if one was too far away, she’d head towards it. But she wouldn’t get too close. She’d only go far enough that they duckling knew that it should return to her.

A Short Walk along the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail

I went for brunch at DD’s Diner one day. The last time I was there was when I visited Crawbuckie Preserve. From the diner I walked south along the Old Croton Aqueduct (OCA) Trail, through Ossining and back home. This time I planned to go north along the OCA to Mariandale, so it was quite a short walk, but not without interest.

Above the Kane House.

All Saints Church Briarcliff Manor

All Saints Episcopal Church. Just around the corner from my house (about a five-minute walk). The church building was designed by architect Richard Upjohn and built between 1848 and 1854. The church was modeled on Saint Andrew’s in Bemerton, England, just a short walk away from famous Salisbury Cathedral. It’s now the oldest functioning church in Briarcliff Manor. St. Mary’s is a little older but has been closed since July 2015.

All but the first and last taken with a Sony A77II and Minolta 35-105 f3.5-4.5. The first was taken with a Fuji X-E1 and Fuji XC 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OSS II. I have no idea what camera the last one was taken with.
