Still Life at Grand Central Terminal

Another early Panasonic LX-3 photograph. I can’t really say what interested me here. The camera was new and I was taking pictures of all kinds of things. I think that I was just really surprised that it came out as well as it did. It was very dark and I was shooting through a shop window. There’s something ‘off’ about the colors that I haven’t been able to fix though.

Porch with Vacuum Cleaner

Taken during a walk in Ossining, New York. The vacuum cleaner looked somewhat incongruous sitting out on the porch. This is a black and white conversion of a color shot that I rather liked. In color the vacuum cleaner is a bright green color, which in some ways makes it stand out even more. It looks as if the lens suffers from vignetting, but that’s not actually the case. The dark areas seen at the edges of the picture were actually dark patches on the house – maybe moss or something.

Icy Twigs

We had a fair amount of ice the other day. The trees were coated with it and when the light caught them they glittered. It was a winter wonderland. Unfortunately, the ice was also on our driveway and on the roads making walking around a bit treacherous. One of our friends fell and fractured her arm and while walking the dog I saw another neighbour being taken away in an ambulance – apparently as a result of a fall. I fell myself, but luckily I slid gracefully (at least that’s my story) to earth (actually to snow) without injury.
