A new restaurant in the neighborhood

A new restaurant has recently opened in my village, Briarcliff Manor, NY: Dive Oyster house. In addition to the dishes shown in the pictures we also had a delicious, creamy Seafood Risotto.

Black Noodles. Black wheat noodles, chopped lobster, shrimp.

Demi Glaze Chicken. Breast of chicken served with our Smoked Andouille sausage, finished with Garlic Demi Glaze sauce.

Another trip into Manhattan

This time to meet up with my friend Robert Cohen. We met near where he lives, an area I’m not very familiar with. Above: Subway station at 96th Street and Broadway.

Pigeons near the 96th Street subway station.

Blue Marble Café where we met and picked up coffee.

Robert in what he refers to as his secret garden.

Robert had to leave because of a prior commitment. I went to get a bite of lunch at the nearby Metro Diner.

Mangos at a fruit stand.

Lemons too.

And Apples

This too shall pass.

Leaping Deer

I deliberately blurred this photograph to convey a sense of motion. Either that or I’m channeling my inner Daido Moriyama. At least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

The reality is of course, that I was trying to take a picture of a deer lying peacefully under a bush. It then took off and, not anticipating this, I didn’t react quickly enough to set a shutter speed fast enough to freeze the motion.

Still, there’s something about it I like and the blur does to a certain extent convey the deer’s motion.
